    10. S.H.I.E.L.D.
The roots of Marvel's superhero spy organisation go back further than anybody knew. This series shows how Nick Fury's predecessors include, not only Tony Stark and Reed Richards Dads, but also Da Vinci and Galileo.

    9. The Light
There's an abundance of post apocalypse/zombie series on our shelves, so it's really good when a fresh approach is used. In the Light a father, not necessarily a good guy, has to protect his teenage daughter from strange electric lights which seem to be causing people to combust.

    8. American Vampire
Wild Western vampires vs old fashioned European vampires. This series could run and run. The first few issues set up a scenario where the first American vampires start to display slightly different powers and abilities than traditional vampires. As well as being a great action adventure read, it's also a good metaphor for colonialism.

    7. Iron Man: Extremis
Widely considered to be the best Iron Man comic series ever, Marvel have wisely decided to reprint the whole series one issue at a time.
Tony stark has to create a more cutting edge Iron Man armor to defeat a particularly powerful villain.

    6. Astonishing Spider-man and Wolverine
Jason Aaron plonks Spider-Man and Wolverine in stone age times. We don't know how they got there, or why they're un such a mood with each other. Yet. But watching the series unfold will no doubt be very interesting.

    5. Batman: Return of Bruce Wayne
Everybody knows that Bruce Wayne is dead. Everybody knows that comic book characters don't stay dead for long. But surely the only way to bring him back is to have him quantum leap through time and space back into his one body. Isn't it.

    4. Turf
Prohibition era New York, somebody is muscling in on the gangsters turf, somebody with an unnatural thirst for blood, and it's all being observed from space.
Gangsters vs Vampires vs Aliens! What can go wrong?

    3. Nemesis
Millar and McNiven (Civil War, Old Man Logan) update Holmes vs Moriarty with superheroes. It's a solid concept and bound to develop into a great series.

    2. iZombie
Gwen is a gravedigger, she's friends with a wolfman, a ghost, probably a vampire too; she's also a zombie. To maintain a little bit of humanity, she's got to eat at least one brain each month. Sometimes she can 'feel' the dead person's memories. Sometimes, if they were murdered, she feels compelled to solve the crimes. Enough ideas were thrown into the first issue that this series could last forever.

    1. XIII
Is the classic French espionage series finally going to be reprinted in English in it's entirety? Let's hope so. The whole thing starts with a memory-less man washing up unconscious on the shore and being looked after by a kindly couple. Pretty soon assassins turn up and try to finish the job they obviously botched previously. This sets our hero, with a mysterious XIII (thirteen) tattoo, on a quest to find out who he is, and why people want to kill him.
