I loved the books. The trailers looked ace. The cast is perfect. But everybody's been telling me it's rubbish, that it's got bad reviews, that it's not worth seeing. Wrong. I had a big smile on my face through the whole thing. Mrs OK Comics loved it. We were both laughing out loud at quite a few bit's "we appreciate you meeting us at a single story structure..." fantastic. It sticks close enough to the books that I was never asking myself what they're playing at. And it deviates just enough to keep it interesting... a bit like Kick Ass. Everybody in it is pretty good. Idris Elba, JD Morgan are both ace, as is Holt McCallany as Wade. But it's Chris Evans who totally steals the movie... I'd count The Losers among the new breed of slick, kind of post modern, action movies like Star Trek or Iron Man. They present themes and scenarios that are pretty farmiliar to viewers so don't have to get bogged down explaining what's going on. We've seen it before, so let's all just get on with the action and fun. And that's what The Losers, books and move, do. No messing about, upbeat action and plenty of laffs. If you haven't already, go see the movie, and read the books.
oh that is good. i will be going to see this, at, er, some point. i really liked the trailer and the sample 50p #1 thingy I picked up the other day. i often find that critics are incapable of just....enjoying things. its always got to have some context or relevance to the world around it and other such nonsense. sometimes its enough to be entertained by a film.
