We've just changed our in store top ten display...
It's now the TOP TEN NON-CANONICAL, OUT OF CONTINUITY DC COMIC GRAPHIC NOVELS. As determined by OK Comics.

    1. Batman Year One
    2. Watchmen
    3. JLA Earth 2
    4. Superman Earth One
    5. Arkham Asylum
    6. New Frontier
    7. Dark Knight Returns
    8. All Star Superman
    9. Kingdom Come
    10. Batman Vampire

All these books owe something to what's gone before, but by throwing out any continuity restrictions the writers and artists have created new, unique, classic books that couldn't exist by just treading water in the status quo.
Some are so good that they've now been folded into mainstream DC Comics history.
  1.
What about The Killing Joke? That rewrote the Joker and made him what he is now. A stone cold NUTTER!

Batman Inc 8 wouldn't have got past the comics code authority. It's THAT offensive.

ive not read it please tell me more offensive on a moral level or ona b movie poor storie level

Knowing OKComicsman as I do I imagine he was cleverly suggesting the art was so bad it was in fact analagous to the "injury to the eye" incident which brought the Comics Code into being. Except the injury is to every reader's eye! Do you remember Rod Steiger in The (original) Amityville Horror hammily staggering around yelling "I'm BLIND!!"? That's how it felt to read Batman Inc #8.

Probably, but maybe not in the New Fifty Two universe...
It was definitely out of continuity when it came out.

The point I'm trying to make is, people shouldn't be scared of trying a comic because it's new and different. It may actually be better than most other stuff, like All Star Superman, Dark Knight Returns and Kingdom Come were...
