Y'see, I liked the Spider-man issue last week, and this one is loads better than that. Alan Davis turns in his best work for years in a short tale about the finacial cost of being a Superhero. And Bendis proves he doesn't take himself too seriously as Impossible Man shows up to make mischief only to find that Bendis/Millar/Quesada etc have done more damage than he could ever have done (House of M, Dissasembled, Civil War).
    "she killed Hawkeye...
...and Antman, but nobody seems to care about that"
    Not Like This.
  1.
    That's a very interesting interpretation.

It's not how I read it at all. Nope, not at all. I think Bendis would like to agree with your reading.

How very, very interesting. (Sometimes I think you are The Bendis in disguise, but then my pills kick in and oo! look bunnies!)

Does Stan cook up anything good in this one?

Are you TRYING to salt my game?
  2.
You are confusing me now. You’re sounding like him on purpose. Now even my pills can’t help.

Is that even English? I bet it’s off the OC or something. (I’m too old and ugly to watch that. My TV won’t accept young, beautiful people programmes.) Is it a compliment? Is it angry? If it is angry I apologise, I was just teasing. So hard to get the tone right when typing.

It’ll be “taint” next. Watch him. He will. He’ll use “taint”.

    What's an OC?
  3.
Is that "taint" as in bad meat? Stan wouldn't use any bad meat. Bad dialogue maybe. And the bunnies? Big six foot tall ones?

I bought the latest "Stan Lee gets you to contribute to his pension fund that he lost in the Enron scandal" comic with a certain amount of trepidation after ripping into the first issue. A definite improvement and at least the reprint/backup is a better selection this time around.

stan lee doesn't need anymore money after he sued marvel for a couple million for the spider-man movies.
  4.
He should have sued them for the Daredevil/Elektra movies instead. Slow smokey luuurve in front of a roaring fire, dear god.
And Stan was indeed "The Man" when he saved that small girl in Spider-Man. That was great. No sarcasm intended.

I would like to know why Marvel are celebrating his Stanness after he took them to the cleaners. Anyone?

I know we mock him, but all our lives would be a bit poorer without him. And he is eminently mockable as well. Bless his plugs.

What reprints are in these comics? Are they character specific or just some random "The Mingus Walks!" creature stuff. (Which are good too).

    Stan is the man.

They guy could commitee crimes and be a sexual devinate of the worse order and still be celebrated as the man of Marvel coz thats how it is.

The OC is a kick ass programme that makes you depressed that your not a rich kid living in California, getting off with beautiful people all the time.
  5.
Are you TRYING to rub my wattles! Sounds like I don't need to watch the OC, I'm living the dream already. It's like they took my life and made a series. Kewl! Rad!

(Note: The above may not be strictly true)

I didn't think anyone else had noticed stan lee savin the small child from the falling masonary in spider-man 1, the OC does kick ass, it's like an upmarket soap opera.
  6.
The reprints are character specific ( the Doc Strange is a BWS drawn reprint from the early 70's). Neither of the reprints are classic examples of either character, and seem odd choices.

Stan is the man in general. His cameo in Hulk was pretty poor though. Here's how I would have rewritten it:

    Stan: How's it going Bruce?
Banner: Hey Stan, you the man!

Damn, this writing lark is harder than it looks...

The OC sounds a bit like my life too, only my life has fit lasses getting dressed up as wonderwoman for comic nerds.
I bet that doesn't happen in your OC.

    actually it did.

Rachel Bilson (Summer) dressed up as Wonder Woman for Adam Brody (Seth) on the show.

in real life they are an actual couple as well.

No. I thought you were joking when you didn't realise that I was joking.
Don't quote cast names unless you really, really mean it.
    Excelsior. Seaquest out.

thomas edison invented everything, he lives in the fourth dimension.
  9.
It's going to get ridiculus at some point, I'm going to try and copyright every word in every language and just live off all of the royalties from people trying to communicate to each other.
  10.
If a book is copyrighted, wouldn't Webster or some other dictionary publisher already own every word?

  12.

just try make it through the day without using it once

Actually isn't the word it more common?
  13.
but what word did you have to use to say it?
    • CommentAuthorWalkin-X
    • CommentTimeOct 19th 2006

I don't think anyone can copyright common words.

Paris Hilton tried to copyright "Thats hot" coz it was 'her catchphrase' but failed coz its been used many times over.

Something less common and in a particular style, liek that boxing announcer that says "lets get ready to ruuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmbbbbbllllllleeeeee!!!!" has gotten his catchphrase copyrighted and now no other announcer or possibly anyone can use it. Least not offically in a broadcasted event.

I think loads of boxing announcers have probably said that but like you said probably not in official matches they probably also got booed off for being too cheesy
