Issues 1 of both series came out this week. Both written by Grant Morrison, both totally different, couldn't be more different, both totally awesome.
Wildcats quickly re-establishes the now classic characters as the keystone of the Wildstorm universe. Action, intrigue a little bit of sex, tons of character cemeos. Lively, bright, full of life.
Authority doesn't even feature any recognisable characters. It's about a submarine rescue guy who's wife is leaving him. It's dark, tense, a little bit abstract in places and quite obviously not set in the Wildstorm universe, it's set here, in the real world.

I totally loved Wildcats, but, for me, round one goes to Authority.

I can see the return of the Wildstorm universe has got everyone a-flutter.

I like Morrison but this here "Authority" raised a few issues for me:

Now, is Morrison taking the proverbial with "All-New Adventures of Kenny The Sad Submariner" aka "The Authority". Is it one of his meta-jokes?
Y'know ;The Authority made "decompression" commonplace, well I'll out-Ellis Ellis and "decompession" you until you weep.

Also maybe it's a very poor submarine/decompression joke as well.

Or is he just "writing for the trade"? And would I still have liked it if "Morrison" wasn't the name on the credits? Would I be giving it another issue? Is that unfair? I am tired, but you get the gist.

I'm not complaining, just questioning what pulled it ahead of WildCATS for you. After all, you love you some Jim Lee you do.

wildcats confused me iv never read or heard a thing about the prior series and just felt like i was droped into the deep end with this one and expected to know these characters which is not what you want from an issue 1. so authority gets my vote because its a fresh start (although i have read a lot of the prior authority's) you didnt need to know anything about the characters which is what you need for new readers and what i needed for wildcats
