    What do we think?

It only caem out today so I won't put any spoilers for those who haven't read it but for those who have, what do you think?

Personally, I felt a bit underwhelemed. It had some good stuff in it, nice artwork and so on but the ending was just a bit....muted, compared to the endings of the last 4.

also, I think there has been in increase in advertisements in this issue. Thats why I don't get many new single isue comics now, the bloody ads annoy me.
  1.
Don't you think it was and is unnecessarily over hyped? Like a "mate" of yours has posted elsewhere maybe the interest in the title would be genuine if it had shipped on time (I think it was Mayberry who posted that #7 should have shipped this month).
    You can't help feeling
    a) that Marvel are manipulating the customer (just look at the filler titles and reprints on the shelves to keep interest going)
    b) that possibly the storyline has lost steam through customer conjecture. You yourself posted your own version of how you saw the thing finishing. If the thing had shipped as listed there really wouldn't be the pregnant pauses between issues leading to things like that, because the crossovers and tie-ins would have filled in the gaps.
    I think disappointment was inevitable.

    Aye.

I think having 4 of them end on cliff hanging, shocking, splash endings and then having this one ened as it did with one small panel, its just din't have any impact.

Also with events at the begining of the story, you felt as if you missed out on something.

Maybe I have since I haven't bought every single tie in, one shot, special Civil War issue. But I think thats explotiing the customer as well. Having to get tons of titles to get the whole story.

I think the wait did heighten expectations as well. I agree.

You also didn't see one, quite literally big, charcter leave the entire thing.

I also think Caps side is over filled with minor players making it not very interesting. Tho they have brought in some big players now.

You also miss some key points, like how people got captured, you just seem them cpatured at the end.

I hope 6 is alot better and then 7 as the finale delivers.
  2.
I just really wouldn't pin my hopes on the finale if I were you.

I think alot of the really good stuff happened at the beginning and then died away at the end, the art was really good though kinda makes me realise that although it's like a million years late it's still better than havin a filler artist. Also when they put checklists in the front cover of comics before a crossover with all the stuff they 'recommend' buying to get the FULL MARVEL EXPERIENCE, the only thing you'd experience is serious money loss.

For want of a better description you created a frenzy on this forum with two of your threads about Civil War. You helped create expectations that weren't going to be met, and even now you're clinging on to the chance that issues 6 & 7 will be better. The fanboy element in a microcosm.
At least both of the other posts on this thread have a realistic viewpoint on the matter.

Yes. Posting about comics, on a comic forum about a big comic event that everyone is talking about is bad.

why didn't I see that before?
  3.
Having now read the thing I think it was a bit more cerebral than everyone was expecting.

it ended on an insult. that cant be bad.

i liked a lot about it. [SPOILERS AHEAD... i mean this is a thread about the issue, i didnt even read this thread til after i read the comic] punisher rescuing spidey was good, there was some humour in there and the art has been of a very high standard.

perhaps there big twist was the absence of a big twist. if anything they should be praised for not following a rigid formula when they didnt feel like it.

I have to say, the Punisher saving Spidey was the highlight of the issue.

Killing the Jester and Jack O Lantern out right was sweet.

Punisher war journal comes out next week, I hope it's worth the 2-3 months they pushed it back.
  4.
the only special thing in this issue was jack o lanterns head poping i like that

Thanks for my free issue Clemfold. You didn’t have to do that, but cheers for the niceness.

Sadly, since it was free I cannot deride it (I only poke fun at things I have paid for (exception: Rob Liefeld)).
    So, positive thoughts:

I thought the bit where someone suggests the Punisher join the siege on The Baxter Building, and Cap goes “I’m thinking!” and then we are treated to two pages of gonzo symbolism depicting his conflicting thoughts was truly the high point. I guess the little dog is his Ego and the floating car is his Id. Strange dreamlike dialogue complemented the Lynchian atmosphere; “I can wear a funny little hat.” Go on Cap, you wear that funny little hat, don’t listen to Broadband Tony Eeeeevil! wear your funny little hat with pride. It was like Millar’s version of Promethea. Most Excellent!

    And, um…er…

How could they turn down the Punisher?

I mean they said themselves they are losing men, Cap's been beaten the crap out of, Tony has a god clone of Thor.

I mean, they need all the help they can get.

thats ok LC. i wouldve got you blade instead but jared insisted civil war was the only choice.

so do you think these milk drinking athletes are the ones behind it all then?
  6.
The athletes! It all makes sense now. Well spotted. Those naughty lactose peddling thyroid cases!

Jared is of course correct; there is only one comic, and that is Civil War!

I just thought that as you hate it but feel compelled to read it you'd rather somebody else pay for it.
  7.
You're darn tootin', and I thank you for your consideration. Cheers!
  8.
Don't you feel like you were on 3-2-1 and Ted Rogers has just told you you've won Dusty Bin?
  9.
The big question is how are they going to end it all in 2 issues and make it a decent ending?

Honestly, i'm not expecting anything major. Why should there be? At the moment i'm thinking that with all the hinting at the operation thunderbolt going on, that it'll go wrong and all the villains will take over and the superheroes will save the day but civilians will die and so everyone will have to go on the run anyway. So back to basics again. But I still think a hero will die. Which one tho?! Zen, you wanna hazard a guess? Or would that be feeding the hype too much?

maybe they'll merge all the marvel characters together and come up with an utterly stupid name for him like captain asgardian iron fisted claw eye beam spider super dooper pooper scooper man.

"If we don't have freedom then we aren't free!"
If the whole of Civil war was like this, I might actually pick it up...
  11.
Oh jeez man my sides hurt. I'm with Rob on this one. We need more comics like this!!!! And it made more sense.
  12.
Oh Rob, believe me the real thing is funnier. Treat yourself (when it's in the 50p box).
