Indeed. The next Drink & Draw event (at the Swan, on Swan Street, parallel to Thornton's Arcade) will be on Monday 3rd November, followed by a Christmas Special on Monday 1st December. Bring your pens, pencils, beer money and Christmas cheer.
Christmas Drink & Festive Draw. The next Drink & Draw event (at the Swan) is on Monday 1st December 2008. IT'S THE CHRISTMAS SPECIAL. Bring Your pens, pencils, mince pies and beer money.
The next Drink & Draw is scheduled for MONDAY 9TH MARCH 2009. This will be the last Drink & Draw event to be held at The Swan before it closes on 31st March. So come along and doodlebooze...
Doodlebooze was most excellent. Even though I upset a big man with a beard by accidently clipping his mate around the head. oops. Hello to Lee! Good to meet you and have a bit of banter!
That bearded guy was starting sh1t with everybody. Don't take it personally.
It was probably the best turn out for a Drink & Draw ever. Thanks to everybody who came along to this one, and all the previous events.
The Swan is closing on Tuesday 31st March. End of an era. I've prersonally been drinking there for over half my life, I've been involved in fights, football revelry (euro 96) and woke up in the toilets with my hair covered in sick on more than one occasion. I've seen three or four name changes, and more refurbs and staff changes than I can remember...
We've got a few options as to where to relocate Drink & Draw to. But have yet to make a final decision. Details will be posted here.
I'd never gone to the venue most recently known as The Swan until my first Doodlebooze, due to being refused entry in the early 90s as I was wearing ripped jeans. I offered to take them off but the bouncers had no sense of humour...
I just read in the Yorkshire Evening Post (as seen in Red Riding) that The Swan Pup has closed and stopped serving drinks and that. Therefore, we must relocate our drawing social gathering to a new venue. I have a few ideas as to where we should go. Anybody else got any thoughts?
just thinking about what's nearby: the ship - too small. the angel, has the potential, but you'd have to brave the rather lairy folk on the ground floor who tend to get drunk and shouty and pervade an air of slight menace. whitelocks is teeny tiny so thats a no go. hmm. the pack horse? been a while since i went there and i think its a slightly uninspiring chain pub nowadays. cellar bar up by the grand might be okay, but its bloody expensive on the booze front. sandinista? does have the long tables, but generally very very busy. there's fab, haunted by the ghosts of leeds nights out past. has the space, but practically i don't know. they have round glass tables there too. where else? the adelphi? those are my current brain thoughts at 9:14 on a friday morning.
Relocated, renamed and reinvigorated, Doodle-Booze is the new name for Drink & Draw. The next Doodle-Booze event is on Monday 1st June, from 7.30pm in its new home "Nation of Shopkeepers".... 27-37 Cookridge Street, Leeds, LS2 3AG, formerly The Courtyard. It looks like it's going to be a pretty good city centre venue... http://tinyurl.com/DOODLEBOOZE-VENUE I'm most excited about Doodle-Booze, Mustache Competitions and Comic and Book Swap Meets...
Everybody over 18 is welcome at Doodle-Booze, just bring your pens, pencils and beer money.
"a phonebooth and traffic light"... ? 'Rebirth' is the concluding series 4 of Transformers from 1987, comprising 3 episodes introducing the Headmasters and Targetmasters. but i am not twigging your Transformers referencing smiggy. quite possibly because i am a little dim.
It may not have been that bad if it hadn't been marjeted as a follow up to Energon, and having colonies of cybertronians on other planets should realy have been explored earlier in other shows and comics. But having the space brisge be an actually bridge was realy anoying, as was everybodies eventual friendly nature. ITV never even showed the ep in which Magatron becomes Galvatron and developed some sort of black mist...
Go-bots were around before Transformers, they come from the 1982 Japenese 'Machine Robo', then Tonka imported them becasue Habro was importing the Diaclone 'Car Robots' which had people drivers raterh than being full robots.
Actually, its all a bit convulted. 'Machine Robo' proberly was made after 'Car Robots', but were the first to not need drivers. And their TV series debuted a month after 'The Transformers'...
Due to BBC taking an interest in Doodle-Booze it looks like we'll have some big name attendees at Nation of Shopkeepers on Monday. Adi Granov, Staz Johnson, Steve Beaumont and Peter Doherty are all likely to make an appearance...
Drink and Draw, er I mean Doodle-Booze was pretty good, wasn't it. Probably the best attended so far, and some absolutely awesome stuff was produced...
The next Doodle-Booze will be on Monday 8th March, 2010, from 7.30pm. Bring your pens, pencils and beer money. Further events will be on Monday 3rd May and Monday 5th July. Both also in 2010.
UNCANNY X-MAS DRINK & DRAW!!! The next event will be on MONDAY 12th DECEMBER from 7pm.
OK Comics semi-regular social event, Drink & Draw, returns to it's spiritual home in Swan Street, Leeds, so fill your pockets with pens, pencils and beer money.
What is it? Drink & Draw is the informal social event hosted by OK Comics. It's a chance for comic fans, illustrators, lollygagers and anybody who's interested to meet up, chat about stuff, drink and draw.
Where is it? Drink & Draw has now returned to venue that started it all, the newly refurbished and recently re-named White Swan, Swan Street, off Briggate, Leeds, LS1 6LG. The White Swan, now run by Leeds Brewery, is one of the most important drinking establishments in Leeds, and OK Comics is delighted to be bringing Drink & Draw back to it's roots. Swan Street is the historic cobbled street adjacent to Thornton's Arcade, home of OK Comics. Swan Street is also the location of the famous City Varieties Music Hall.
When is it? MONDAY 12th DECEMBER!
What to expect. We'll be taking over a small part of the pub, placing paper around for people to draw on, and pens for people to draw with. Don't worry if you're not great at drawing, many people just concentrate of the drinking and socialising aspect of the evening.
How much is it? It's a completely free event, but patrons are encouraged to bring plenty of beer money. Leeds Brewery pubs are well known for their great ales and lagers.
