Planetary is absolutely awesome. I recommend anybody who hasn't read the first couple of books pick them up imediately, Or better still, track down the back issues - the series was intended to be read as separate stories after all. I've read and re read this series more times than any other comic. It's a post modern disection and study of 20th century comics and pulp literature masquerading as a taotally awesome action/adventure thriller. I'm very nervous about the series coming to a conclusion.
Rumor has it that Desolation Jones is written, but there will be no more issues. The whole thing will be published as a grahic novel. Apparently "Warren Ellis is rethinking the format". And It's taken Ellis And Cassaday 10 years to produce 26 issues, so quit your bitching.
Planetary is certainly very pretty. Ten years well spent by Mr Cassady.
If Ellis is rethinking the format of Desolation Jones maybe it won’t be a TPB. Maybe it’ll be a “paper-movie” which you can watch on your “paper-TV” with your “paper-eyes”. We can only await breathlessly. Or maybe “rethinking the format” means the floppies sold badly and were way behind schedule, so if you release it as a TPB both problems are solved. Surely not.
My keen Spidey-sense is picking up a bit of lateness resentment from OKComicsman. Which is an attempt to badly link into my next poor joke; If you buy a Wildstorm comic on the editorial page there is a picture of Jim Lee, at least I thought it was just a picture, in fact it turns out to be an experimental page-cam showing The Jimster in real time. It works really well too, I’ve been staring at it for two days now and he hasn’t picked up his brush once.
