Hi Elliot, I'm really glad you've started this questions and answers section on the OK Forum. As one of our most important customers I think it's great that you want to help people out with comic enquieries, life lessons, advice and general information on absolutely any topic.
    Allow me to go first.
Please could you tell me what's the best way to conserve comic books for future generations?

up your anus in a polythene bag.
  1.
Tried that it hurts, especially if the comics are boarded and in a long box. KY doesn't help either. Resale value tends to plummet, much the same way that good taste currently is doing.
  2.
well if you want them to last for a long time you can:

1)get them cgc graded and locked into an airtight plastic box

2)change bags and backing bords every year (how ever this is expencive time consuming and you also run the risk of damiging your collectables moving them around)

    3) you must keep them in a cool environment other wise they will "sweat" and the ink will slowly but surely run.but not too cool otherwise damp will mold and rot your collection

    4) liquid nitrogen/ that thing they did to han solo (downside is you can never get them out but you will know they will be safe for the generation that can reverse the proccess)

and humanoid do not be so slack if you shove a comic up your anal cavity you have to roll them into a cylinder which significantly reduces the value

Air pollution, ultra violet light, dirt and oil from fingers as well as rough handling all contribute to the deterioration of a comic. Storing a comic properly is essential to keeping it valuable. There are 3 major storage components to proper comic storage. They are a comic bag, a comic backing board and a comic box.

ooo... lardhey dar. I have a GCSE in it, you dont... i win. If your going to be like that, why dont you call "plastic" semi-synthetic polymerization, petty. Ultraviolet Radiation is a invisible light from the sun... so in over words, it is sunlight. o_O
  4.
for my gcses worst results ever

drew in the exams silly me i blame the comics

School is cool stay in school kids

    and eat hostess twinkies

Ok i got a question for you whats my name huh WHATS MY DAMN NAME...no seriously thor cracked me on the head with his bastard Mjolin hammer the other day i dont even know who i am
  7.
you are Liam Cooper man of the comics destined to do something that will cause a domino effect that will efect someones life in a small but meaningful way
  8.
oh yeah now i remeber...wait shit now i remeber where i left my death ray man you guys are in so much trouble when i get it...damn forgot where it was again erm yeah so i'll just be in the corner making a new one
  9.
future generations? bah, they'll be to busy watching the movies to be reading comics, if they're not completly illiterate. Comic companies will eventually just merge with movie companies.
  10.
I have a very important question...how did McGuyvor always manage to make military grade weapons from junk? The man was a marvel
  11.
I don't think you've got to wait for future generations to see illiteracy in kids.

And didn't Marvel form an unsuccessful partnership with Corman during the '80s & '90s.
  12.
mcguyvor was a mutant yes thats right he had the x gene his mutant nature was simalar to forges however not as advanced and so he could only create simple things like military weapons i mean its not like it was an ultimate nullifier or
anything stupendous like that next question

can an amatuer footballer do a proffesional foul?
  14.
no however a proffesional footballer can be guilty of an amatuers foul
  15.
Is an Orange called an Orange because it is the colour orange or is the colour orange thus called because that is the colour an Orange is?
  16.
thats the old chicken or the egg riddle and i know the chicken came first and so the orange is named the orange because of its colour (the colour came first)
  17.
it maybe true but it sounds rubbish, though i suppose i'm glad i don't have to mix yellow and green with any drinks.
seriously whoever named the orange was a boring git with no imagination or just simple.
  18.
here is one for you...In your honest opinion, which is better. Amazing Spider-man or Ultimate Spider-Man? Discuss
  19.
easy while with out amazing there would be no ultimate overall the ultimate is in my opinion the better it is a chance to get rid of bad storys/characters ect from the old asm storys and update it. any thing in usm is the good stuff from asm the only faults i have with the ultimate stuff is, the stuff you want over quick is drawn out, while the stuff thats good only last one/two issues. i personally want bendis to cut down his writting load the storys are alot better when he writes less but at the moment ultimate is the better but i think my mind may change as i here rumours that the ultimate spiderman 100 has 3 different endings this is never a good idea just pick one and run with it different endings lead to confusion at later dates
  20.
I would agree that at the moment Ultimate is better. It seems fresh and easier to relate to. I didn't realise that there are emant to be 3 different endings. I would agree this can't work. It is just an excuse to force collecters to buy 3 as opposed to 1 copy.

    Jared - I need all 3

I think all three will be in the same comic.
And Amazing Spider-man is better by a million miles. The original Peter Parker is more realistic than the new updated MTV version. And Bagley's a bit rubbish too. And it's probably Bendis's worst comic, unless you count Elektra. His policy seems to be "why use one word when 50 will do?"
  21.
hey...that is how the kids speak these days
  22.
see theres there gengerational difference kicking in

and jared i did say in my opinion and isn't the customer always right?
  23.
i don't collect any ultimates so i can't really comment, but to me the whole ultimates thing seems like those remakes of old popular films, designed to generate money. Ultimates may have their good points but they just don't cut it to me.

Although in the ultimates they get to play around with what ifs and explore closed off avenues from the marvel U. i still think it's a money spinner and frankly im on a tight enough budget as it is with my comic addiction. I going on Amazing Spiderman by default.

I don't know who invented this 'customers always right' nonsense, but it wasn't a retailer.
Prefering Ultimate Spider-man to Amazing Spider-man is like prefering Kasabian to the Stone Roses.
Oh, and every time you write Spider-man without the hyphon (spiderman) Stan Lee dies a little bit inside.
  24.
Too many empty spaces in the ultimate series, too much history in ASM. Who's side are you on?
  25.
In all seriousness though, Ultimate showed potential at first but quickly became soap opera fodder and never recovered.

I know its not Ultimates but I was flicking through and Ultimate X-Men the other day, um think it was voul 4 and the artwork in it change sin the middle, just randomly and it looks soooooo crap.

I mean I aint obessed with artists or owt but I like it to look decent and it went form decent looking drawing to complet and utter pre-school looking garbage.

I dont get why they do that.

You know the artwork on the Runaway/X-men comic that was part of free comic book day? it was like that. I didn't like the artwork in that at all, tho Kitty Pryde did look quite hot.

That bit in Ult X-men was by Kaare Andrews, he's awesome. I wish he'd draw more stuff. It worked quite well when they were separate issues but I bet it seemed a bit odd in the book.

Well Samuel could do the Ultimate Nick Fury role.....if he gets to say "motherf*cka" alot.

There is also a solo Wolverine film in the works plus Iron Man is being released in 2008 and plans are drawn up for a Thor movie, a new hulk movie I think and maybe a Captian America one.

doubt it, basically edgar wright is getting some big opportunities, seeing as Shaun of the Dead did pretty well worldwide. he (Edgar) is also supposed to be attached to a scott pilgrim film. it was edgar wright who was attached to Ant-Man first, and he, i presume, would've brought JC on himself.

so i think the likes of mark heap and nick frost will be making cameos before a drunk ben kenobi action figure will.
  33.
I'd imagine a Scott Pilgrim film will turn out like an old badly dubbed chinese series with people magically turning into skateboards and coins. Also making little to no sense.

But I really do like Scott Pilgrim, just not sure about the medium change.

i think all pilgrim fans have had that concern. we'll need to wait and see, it may not even get made, and if it does, it might be good

There are two lists on the OK upcoming page.
The first lists stuff coming this week, that's an edited copy of my invoice which is usually emailed as the goods are dispatched, so (unless a box goes missing, as happened this week) it's a 100% true documet of what we'll be receiving on the Thursday.
The second list is what's coming next week. This is an edited version of the 'advance reorder list' which is emailed to me on Tuesday or Wednesday and features items likely to ship the week after. It's not always 100% correct as sometimes comics arrive in the country a bit too late to be checked/sorted/packed/shipped to us in time and they end up coming a week or two later.
The lists on the Diamond site are a good guide but they're for the US marketplace rather than world wide. They list everything which is good and bad. It's bad because you may assume that as it's on the Diamond list that OK Comics will have it on the shelves. Not always the case, we only order a fraction of what's available to us. It's good because you cab see stuff that we haven't ordered, so if it's not on our shelves you know it's out or at least imminent.
