Back when the issues were in short supply, I raved about this excellent series. Now it's out in book format, I thought I'd have another go at recommending it.
Long story short: Private eye (ex-cop) on the trail of a killer. Real cops don't like him, he's being set up. His partner is a talking ventriloquist's dummy. Short story long: Anything by Shakespeare
The premise sounds faintly ridiculous, but the story and artwork are both exceptional. I can't recommend it highly enough as an alternative to mainstream stories. Anyone who likes something a bit different or enjoys detective thrillers will get a kick out of it.
Just can't bring myself to buy the collected edition when I'm only missing issue three. But I whole heartedly second Rob's comments ~ if you missed this in the comic format it's well worth picking up in the collected format. Strange, and different but thoroughly enjoyable.
Is there a copy of the graphic novel or of issues 3 and 4 in, I cant find this anywhere and I thought 1 and 2 were great. Its a really quirky and loveable story, I went out and got it from a previous review on the forum.
I think Rob posted that it had been collected in a trade (and I'm sure I saw it in the shop) so ask JM next time you're in the shop if he still has a copy or if he can order it for you.
Excellent! Picked it up in the shop, without even knowing it was intentionally put aside for me! Its a great read and in such a handy format ;) Highly recommended, hope that theyll be more in the series, as there is so many questions Id like answering.
