Anyone know of some festival or something in Leeds with Adi Granov and Leah Moore (amongst others) as guests???? I may go and touch Leah just cos she is the seed of Alan!
Hi all, Lisa here from Travelling Man. Here's some info for you on Thought Bubble. It is running as part of the Leeds Film Festival this year and will take place at various locations in Leeds from 9th - 11th of November.
The website is a bit more sorted now (links working hopefully) and will have new info posted regularly. Because this is the first year, we don't have any cash and not much in the way of resources but hopefully we can generate enough interest in the festival to make it bigger and better year on year. We just need a bit of help spreading the word.
The schedule will go something like this, not everything is confirmed yet but you'll get an idea of what we have planned. Fri 9th - A comic film screening and a launch party at Travelling Man, hopefully with the folk singer and comic artist Jeffrey Lewis. Sat 10th - Comic Fair 10am-5.30pm - stalls and signings £3.50 advance £4 on door. There will also be comic film screenings throughout the day. We are also running 3 workshops - Science/Superhero workshop 10am - 12.30pm Carriageworks, this is a free workshop for children. Small Press Workshop 1pm - 4pm Carriageworks, for adults. This will also be free. Comic learning for kids 10am - 12.30pm T Man Coffee Bar w/ Dr Mel Gibson. This is free too.
People will need to sign up for the workshops before hand as places are limited. More info will be posted on the website soon :)
In the evening of 10th there will also be 2 panels at the Carriageworks. The first one is called 'From Panel to Motion Picture: The design behind Iron Man' this will involve a Q & A w/ Adi Granov, at 6pm. The second panel will be at 7pm at the Carriageworks with some of the guests from the con.
Sun 11th will have 4 comic film screenings.
This is all the info I have so far, if you would like to find out more about the guests and films visit www.thoughtbubblefestival.com
Jared and some other stores around Leeds have kindly offered to carry the flyers for us. We should have some posters to put up soon too. The Birmingham Comic Show looks totally amazing this year by the way, I'll be going to that. I also love the website. Hope all this helps. Any support in spreading the word would be much appreciated.

I spoke to Lisa, the hardworking organiser behind Thought Bubble, earlier today and I'm more excited than ever about this event. The movies that they're showing as part of the weekend look great... http://www.thoughtbubblefestival.com/screenings.asp
Hey guys, thanks so much for giving us a mention! I hope a few of you can make it :) I'm helping Lisa organise the event in November. We also still have spots left on our three workshops that take place on Saturday. There a Small Press workshop for all ages, and two young people's workshops including "Science of the Superhero" that is aimed at 12-14 year olds, and "Talking Pictures" for 12-18 year olds. There is a bunch more information up on the website under the 'events' section as regards these.
We also have a MySpace page that is kept well up to date, please do add us as a friend and subscribe to our blog for regular updates and information: http://www.myspace.com/thought_bubble
You can buy your tickets online in advance for £3.50, or just get one on the door for £4. Again, I think all the details are on the website and MySpace, but if you're struggling to find information please let us know, because a) we'll be able to help (hopefully), and b) we'll be able to improve layouts and make stuff as user friendly as possible. We have a lot going on at the festival and we're trying to make sure it all gets the coverage it deserves.
Thanks for reading :) If you're excited about this, please tell your friends! We plan on becoming an annual event and would really like this year to be a success so we can bring even more comic book goodness to the north in 2008. Tamsin
Hey guys, here's the artwork we've received from guests and artists who did their take on a 'Leeds Superhero'. The Jeffrey Brown one is available on a t-shirt if you'd like it! You can buy one at the show, drop us a line at thoughtbubble@hotmail.co.uk and we'll get you fixed up. Adi's linework will be raffled off if you're interested :) Raffle tickets will be available on the door.
Hi there, we're quite excited about this and will be bringing our indie comics to the comic fair (as well as some interesting back issue boxes) including our ZOMBIES anthology which fellow attendees John Reppion, Leah Moore and Kieron Gillen have contributed to.
We've 'done' a few of the Leeds comics marts before and the bigger shows in Bristol and Birmingham (and the London ICA one this weekend) and always had a good reception but the chance of exhibiting in a mainstream venue and as part of an organised city wide event is quite exciting just hope it's a busy one to reward the efforts of all involved.
I hope everybody who went to this had a fantastic time. Me and Mark did. It was a great mix of 'old school' comic mart dealers, indie comic creators, big name signing guests and local shops (OK and Traveling Man)... fantastic central venue, loads of people through the door all day long. I know bigger and better things are planned for next year. I personally can't wait. I urge all OK Comic customers to support their local comic convention.
Hey Colin, big thanks to you guys from AccentUK for making it down. I sent an e-mail to Dave about it and he was so nice! I hope you had a great day.
Jared, thank you SO much for all the positive feedback, it's amazing :) I am extremely happy that we could reinstate your faith in having a table at conventions. It was great to have you guys involved and I'm very glad it was a success. Say hi to Mark from me, it was really nice to meet him and have a chat with you both.
Details for next year to follow in the not too distant future. As always, comments and suggestions are welcome.
