And if somehow you haven't read Civil War 2 stop now: Here be SPOILERS. (Always wanted to say that).
I was one of the lucky readers who missed the Metro reveal, and that last page actually had me sat, mouth agog, just flipping between the last two pages. I've read a LOT of comics, and I've become a bit jaded and unphased, but this really got me. How could they do that? How?????
I'm not saying it's a bad idea, cos I reckon it's going to make for some fascinating reading, but I'm really, honest-to-God shocked. Especially after all the grumbling Joe Q's been doing about how they screwed up Spiderman by marrying him off to a super-model and moving away from the core of the character.
So what's everyone reckon?
(I just realised there were no spoilers there at all. Ah well, guess they'll follow.)
i have been complaning for the past month at spidey losing his secret id but to be hounest i loved it i dont know why but it worked so well i wasnt angry at all i was happy
only thing i dont get why all the reveils to the public isnt it only government they need to tell
its a mixture of reasons why, but the main thing is, he doesn't need to worry about may anymore, she and MJ both know, they live at Starks place now so he doesn't feel he has to worry about their safety.
some of the marvel staff in interviiews online have also said its to do with his respect of the law, and wanting people to know that he is a good guy not a public menace like he has been portrayed...
mixed feelings here, on one side i didn't feel like they should've revealed spiderman's identity, on the otherhand they did it well, if you've been reading the amazing spiderman, you might agree.
Reckon Jameson's gonna flip mouthing off how he's a slacker and how Parker used his alterego to earn cash, taking pictures of him self for the Bugle.
I think the person who'll do worst out of it is MJ, she's a famous model who until now has had a 'regular joe' husband, but now it's going to turn into an extreme Bennifer style Heat magazine cover story relationship - "Top Model Dates Superhero!" , "Is MJ Pregnant With Spider-Baby?", etc. and I don't think it'll be long before she's kidnapped or abducted or whatever Joe Quesada wants to happen to her!
Well I gave in and bought Civil War 1 and 2 and read them both, pretty good stuff. The end of the 2nd one was prett shokcing but I liked how it kept the humou rin the J Jonah Jameson.
Mind you, some1 so close to Parker and so into getting Spiderman and he still didn't know? Ah well I guess he could be cloauded in his judgement, but u'd think some1 that into it would have suspected.
What I don't get is in Civil War 1, how can humans say the Sentinels are protectors an dgood and all that compared to the X-Men, whene everytime a Sentinel was dispatched, the destroy a shit load of property? I mean, when they go after even one mutant they have a lot of destrcution on the surrounding area, how did they never kill any innocents?
Is Strak gonna reveal his identity then to? Bit hypcritcial not to. And what is Reed Richards doing? A prision for his fellow heros? AN dyou know its gonna him vs Sue Richards.
Its good stuff, I just hope the X-Men get involved in the story and its not all Cap and Iron man.
OK the Spidey revelation was to be expected, particularly if you're reading ASM, but for me the better parts of Issue 2 are the subplots ~ Fury's underground, 42 is so top secret Reed won't discuss it with Sue, the fact Sue isn't too sure about the rgistration act, Ol' Tin Heads jingoistic attitude. And I don't think these are all short term plots either. This is still a better thought out and conceived series than Infinite Crisis and the infinitely stretched out 52 (sorry but that comic still smacks of DC's Showcase just under another name). It's actually encouraging me to read the crossovers. It's also a brave premise for a comic publisher. There's no going back from this storyline, at least not without loosing face big style and I don't think JQ is daft enough to risk another Heroes Revamped fiasco. And let's be honest unlike the DC universe, the Marvel universe wasn't really in need of a shake up. Oh and in case you missed it check out the Pulse advert in issue 2, particularly the blurb for the upcoming Daredevil.
