PRESS RELEASE

24/01/2008

www.IndieReview.co.uk : Push For 2008
UK Indie Comic/Manga News, Reviews & Articles Community

The UK Indie Comic/Manga Community IndieReview.co.uk, established in late 2007 has undergone some major refurbishment ready for 2008. The Community has worked towards their aim of bringing the UK Indie Comic/Manga talent to the mass public through a selection of resources and reviews of small press releases, with the introduction of a number of new incentives.

The website has 7 main categories, which are explained briefly below:

-News:
IndieReview.co.uk is updated regularly with the latest news related to the UK Indie Comics/Manga scene, and any other news that may be of interest to visitors of the Community.

-Blogs/Personal Spaces:
Membership to the Community is totally free, and each registered member receives a number of benefits. The first is the idea of a Personal Space. Every member has their own Personal Space where they are able to add information about themselves and their comics/mangas, the ability to upload images to their own Personal image gallery, a Personal blog roll to keep visitors up-to-date on their projects as well as a place to vent! and one of the new exciting features which is a short link to their Personal Space along the lines of www.IndieReview.co.uk/whatever. The interesting fact about this is users are able to change their link and for the change to be live instantly.

-Reviews*
IndieReview.co.uk is dedicated to reviewing the comics/manga publications that can be found in the UK small press market. IndieReview has a number of regular reviewers, and is always on the lookout for user submitted reviews which, once validated to ensure objectivity may be placed on the site, and linked to the writers Personal Space, a feature which ensures all user submitted content is credited to the user that submitted it!

* IndieReview.co.uk also accepts both physical and electronic copies of comics/manga from creators/publishers for reviewing purposes, but unfortunately cannot guarantee the return of review copies back to the sender.

-Articles
IndieReview.co.uk publishes a number of regular and one-off articles ranging from how to self-publish your work, to general commentary on the Indie and Commercial Comics/Manga industry. Once again, users are encouraged to have ago and submit their own articles if they feel they have something to offer the Community, each article is linked to the writers Personal Space, which again ensures all user submitted content is credited to the user that submitted it.

-Interviews
IndieReview.co.uk releases an interview once-a-month featuring an Indie creator, or someone in some way involved in the UK Indie comic/manga scene. Each interview focuses on important and interesting features of the interviewee and their work, which ensures that readers can take something away from having read the interview. The interview post also contains a comments section so members of the Community can discuss and extend on any of the subjects risen in the interview.

-Publishers/Comics
One of IndieReview.co.uk's main aims is to create a single location that anyone interested in the UK Indie comic/manga scene can come to, and maintain their interest, or in the case of new members to this scene, develop their interest further. Identified Indie Publishers are listed together with their home website url, and a list of their publications. Each publication contains an overview of the content/storyline, writer/artist credits, format + size and retail price. As well as this information, there are also links provided from where to purchase the publication in question, IndieReview reviews and other misc. links related to the comic/manga. Once again Indie Publishers are urged to contact IndieReview to get their details listed.

-Creators
This section caters for those creators/writers/artists that self-publish their own work either through an Indie Publishing name, or by themselves. Each Creator featured contains an introduction, previous and future projects, further links for example to the creators own page (and IndieReview Personal Space), information detailing where to buy the Creators work and some recommended reading.

IndieReview provides a neat feature by which users can create quick graphical links to articles or reviews posted on the site with an easy 1 click on a tab provided with every article/review posting.

As part of their push for 2008, IndieReview.co.uk are looking for people dedicated to promoting the UK Indie Comics/Manga scene to help with the following areas:

- Comic/Manga Articles
- Tutorials/Help Guides
- Event Reports
- Scene Commentary
- Monthly column summarising Other World Indie scenes.
- Comic/Manga Reviews
