I did not get Nexus 100, I like Steve "The Dude" Rude very much, but having missed #1-99 of Nexus it seemed a bit late. Is it a "Great Jumping on point!" Or should I save up for the Dark Horse Archives? Hope you enjoyed it as much as you were looking forward to it. Maybe even a little bit more.
1) Howard Chaykin is Jewish. (But he is not from The Future.) 2) Howard Chaykin was fired by G*I*L K*A*N*E. Twice. 3) Howard Chaykin is the intended target for Grant Morrison's unintentionally hilariously whiny, petulant and self justificatory introduction to the recent Arkham Asylum hardback. 4) Howard Chaykin "stars" in two of Walter simonson's early '70s strips. He has big sideburns in both. 5) Howard Chaykin is not to everyone's taste. 7) Howard Chaykin's proposal for the Batman project which became Knightfall was rejected, becoming the basis of his fantastic Toth-ian 4-issue mini-series Midnight Men. Guess which one everyone bought. Go on. Guess! 6) Howard Chaykin was repeatedly berated by readers of the recent Blade series for making Blade "fat". 7) Howard Chaykin does not take sh*t. Not yours. Not mine. Not Marvel nor DC's. He is a mensch. 8) Howard Chaykin once shared a studio with Walter Simonson and Frank Miller. Think about that. 10) Howard Chaykin was right about Arkham Asylum.
I think Guggenheim told Chaykin! Blade was "phat" and...
Here's some words from "Jog" , who is a massive Chaykin! fan and can actually talk about his work properly (unlike me who can just gush), on War Is Hell: First Flight etc.:
