im a newbie in comic collecting and wondered if anyone new if new comics were being released so i can start to collect them from issue#1. hate having loads of random comics.
  1.
anything in particular or are you just after ANY series that starts at #1?

Regardless, I think you'll find a lot of comics you can jump into that have been going for years and not have to worry that you aren't reading from #1.

OK sells everything you'll ever need. Except women. And booze. And a few other odds and ends.
  2.
Fans of Golden Age shennanigans can do a lot worse than the Fantastic Comics project (Image Comics); a series of one -offs resurrecting Golden Age characters in the public domain executed by modern creators in a variety of styles.
These are even the same size as Golden Age comics and no expense has been sparedtobring you that grubby old paper feel. First issue was out a month back, ask OK! for details.

Also: Northlanders (Vertigo) is up to #4 now but I'm sure OK can get 1 -3 in easily. It's a tale of a prodigal viking returning home to reclaim his birtright and exact vengeance. Violent hi-jinks ensue.
Young Liars (Vertigo) is on #2 and is an old man trying to be hip and producing a profane and violent comic that might be good, it's a bit soon to tell.
X-Force just launched and has a sub-group of X-Men keeping Charles Xavier's pacifist dream alive by killing lots of bad peoples. Wolverine is in it. It is no doubt extreme! To! The! MAx!!

If you are new to the hobby: Trade paperbacks are a good way of catching up on series you missed the start of too.
    Happy hunting.

punisher max is worth buying in trades because it's just so damn good. Yound liars looks like it's gonna be good and northlanders is definately worth picking up if you like bloody gore, vikings and a good story, also issues 22 and 23(might be 21 and 22, correct me if i'm wrong) of loveless are brilliant and need no knowledge of previous issues to read, the new stories in criminal 2 and self contained and a bloody good read too.
