THE POWER OF SHAZAM! Original Graphic Novel by Jerry Ordway. Softback. Say the word! Feel the Power! Say it! SAY IT!
BITE CLUB TPB (Digest Size) by Howard Chaykin (w), David Tischman (w) and David Hahn (a). Vampire gangsters and sweary cynicism, with gore and rudeyness too. Luckily Kids don't read comics so no warnings are needed, eh?
CAPTAIN MARVEL: FIRST CONTACT By Peter David & Chriscross. The contents have come completley away from the cover but all the pages are still bound together. A dab o glue and you'll be sorted. For the Brand Loyalists: This is a Marvel book.
SAGA OF THE SWAMP THING by Moore, Bissette & Totleben. Reprints "The Anatomy Lesson" thru "By Demon's Driven". The comics that changed EVERYTHING. This is the 1987 first edition so it doesn't match the current trade dress and is a tad yellow but still nice.
BLACKHAWK books 1 thru 3 By Howard CHAYKIN! All three issues of CHAYKIN!'s uncollected masterpiece. Truly mature storytelling.
MARVEL MASTERWORKS: SPIDER-MAN Vol. 1. The UK version by Pedigree. It's Lee & Ditko giving it all Spidey. 'Nuff Said! Hardback. For the Brand Loyalists: This is a Marvel book.

And as this is a freebies posting up for grabs are four recent issues of the excellent Video Watchdog magazine (issues 128, 129, 130, 131 (to be dropped off at the shop for collection).
Is it only me blagging this stuff? Can I be excessively greedy and grab the Watchmen TPB? (See you Thursday).
And anyone interested in a copy of the Elfquest Gatherum hardback? Or the League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen Volume 2? Or even a copy of Kimota the Miracleman retrospective published by Tomorrows a couple of years ago.
First come, first served, eat all you can stomach, just assume if you've asked and no one else has asked you've got it. If someone else asked first they got it. Enjoy people!
Kimota is yours Mr. Cranston sir. As to The Watchmen book ~ I've got the original slipcase edition somewhere on one of the shelves, but am currently in dire need of holiday reading and having promised myself that one day I'll re-read it.....
Cripes! That's great, I've been half looking for Kimota! for ages (it only seemed to be on sale for five minutes then...gone!) Really, thanks everso. You've got (or will have) plenty of Holiday reading now, eh?
C'mon kids! That's a Lee/Ditko Spidey collection up there! And other stuff! Comic Hate doesn't rub off on you, you know.
blimey Lamont, you gave me a DKR hardback last year, now you have another to spare. did you hold the world record for most copies of DKR owned or something?
If the MARVEL MASTERWORKS: SPIDER-MAN Vol. 1 is still up for grabs i'll gladly take it off your hands. Need a bit of 'the man' and 'the king' 's spiderman.
That was a test and congratulations for picking up on it...
or
I meant the cover to Amazing Fantasy 15...
or
I was referring to Ditko as 'the king', cos really what has Kirby ever done honestly (i'm going to be lynched at work for that comment)
or
that was a simple mistake, that you for correcting me OkOliver, its yet another reason for me to get the collection
You see i did know that, and Ditko even appeared on my application for this fantastic job i find myself in. Can't believed i messed that up, nuts! Please don't fire me ... i'll even read one more day again if you don't fire me (well...thats a little much, but i'll read the stan lee intro at least).
I think Ditko is always going to be overlooked for several reasons; He has never really kicked up much of a fuss over the rights to Spider-Man (compare his letter writing campaign to the Siegels and Schusters constant law suits.) He has drifted into relative obscurity due to lack of mainstream comic work/increasingly radical political views. He hasn't done a very large body of work, although he has created several enduring characters (also without Ditko's Question there is no Rorsach) He was followed on Spider-Man by Jazzy John Romita, who made everyone look really attractive and helped increase the popularity of the comic, Ditko created almost all the famous characters and villains in his 38 issues and annual.(A bit like what John Byrne did to X-Men after Dave Cockrum did all the hard work of creating the haracters). Everyone thinks Jack Kirby created the Marvel universe and so by extension Spider-Man. (My opinion is that Kirby is a great creator of characters but it often took other people to fully realise their potential, the exceptions being Fantastic Four and Devil Dinosaur)
Stan Lee did the afterword for One More Day, not the introduction.
Daniel_R: Yes you may have The Masterwork, sir, but I'll have to post it, so it'll be a short while while I sort that out.
Clemfold: Doesn't everyone have multiple copies of DKR? I'm down to four now, but they are "special" ones.
The Encyclopedia Picklesttanica is open! Just two small amendments: 1) Ditko's body of work is absolutley ginormous, and that's just pre-Marvel. It's just as you say; he's not really linked in the wider public mind with any character except Spider-Man. And Rom. Kirby is King, Ditko is Duke (and Gene's the Dean!). 2) Also, he's a bit weird. Kirby is cuddly. Who who'd you rather be stuck in a lift with? See: Kirby. 3) Stan Lee created Spider-Man. No one else 4) Truth, no mortal could ever do justice to Devil Dinosaur, except Kirby, and was he merely mortal? eh? eh?
Lee: Astonishingly Stan says OMD is good in his afterword, although there is no solid evidence he actually read it, he's a bit vague or so someone said. And he also "unexpectedley " turned upon stage at WhateverCon to congratulate "whoever made Spidey single again!" Isn't that convincing! Yes Marvel I am a cretin, thanks!
Item! No problem, Rob. My man Rob don't shiv. Item! Posted the Spidey book on Saturday! Item! Steranko vs. Ditko? Well, you just need some Steranko now. Item! The book does include some Kirby pages! Item! Kirby couldn't draw Spider-man and Ditko couldn't draw The Thing. Discuss. Item! Enjoy! Item! No further items!
