Just ace at maths. We sold out of Comic Book Tattoo pretty much straight away, but got restocks in this morning, and should have more later in the week.
..."it is better to see than explain"? - was he in one of his Yoda moods, then? "Always in motion is the pull list." Hmmm.
That's a mighty fine show not tell offer there, but unless I get me some thousand league boots it ain't gonna be happening.
So then, Comic Book Tattoo is:
1) A lavishly produced photo-paen to those comic fans so enamoured of the art form they have decorated their own pale flesh with images of Ultimate Geldof, Wolverine and Gambit etc..
2) A regular display of military exercises held at OKComics wherein all the manouvering troops wear big unwieldy papier mache heads of iconic characters such as Ultimate Geldof, Wolverine and Gambit etc..
3) A comic book adaptation by Chuck Austen and John Byrne of a 1981 film starring Bruce Dern and Maud Adams; incidentally being a film so bad I have never met anyone who has actually seen it.
4) A pot pourri of images and text inspired by the timeless melodic beauty of the truly fantastic tinnitus like track from OKComicsman's favouritest ever album Tubular Bells II.
5) The latest and greatest comic book licensed property which details the further adventures of Herve Villechaize following the death of his master Ricardo Montalban as he seeks to rebrand and better position Fantasy Island in the global holiday market. "Da plane! Da plane, boss!"
Ok (and don't let the "inspired by" bit deter you) - it is a lavish, coffee-table sized book with over fifty stories by dozens of great indie comic writers and artists (including David Mack, Jock, Mike Dringenberg, Jonathan Hickman, Carla Speed McNeil, Laurenn McCubbin, Kelly Sue DeConnick, Ivan Brandon, Callum Watt, Neil Kleid, Christopher Mitten, Elzabeth Genco, Chris Arrant, and Daniel Heard) telling stories inspired by the songs of Tori Amos.
That sounds great. I too have been inspired by the songs of Tori Amos. Specifically I was inspired to not listen to anymore Tori Amos songs. Ho! I'll have a look at a preview and then decide. I can do no more.
Inspired by the success of Comic Book Tattoo I'm currently trying to get funding for a similar project - "Gypsy, Tramps & Thieves: Comic Cognoscenti inspired by The Cher".
So far the line up (in my head) is:
If I could Turn Back Time - John Byrne Hell On Wheels - Jason Aaron Never Should Have Started - B*ndis Rescue Me - Howard Chaykin Could've Been You - Robert Kirkman Hey Joe - Steve Ditko (Parental Advisory) When The Money's Gone - Pat Lee
Everybody loves The Cher!
Does anybody else have a similar project in the works?
