I saw it today and thought it was great apart from the bit where he flys lois around for like 10 mins, he needed someone to kick the crap out of too, not enough ass kicking.
i thought it was great up untill the light got evecuated and the stoped it and made us all leave sort of killed it happened right at the best bit aswell
i'm also more inclined to marvel than dc, how many ok customers actually prefer dc
and even tho i've always been indifferent to superman as a character, i have been tempted to have a look at the main series recently, kurt busieks writing now and i like evertything thing of his i've read, and reviews of recent issues make it sound like something i could read
I have been reading a few Superman's from a library.
they are ok, but I just prefer marvel charcters and stories, how they write and draw the characters.
tho I have always watch DC series like New adventures of Superman and Smallville, watched all the batman and superman films.
strange.
it is interesting how DC''s biggest guy is their most powerful one, or is super powerful whereas Mrvels big ones areb't nearly as powerful i.e Spiderman, Wolverine and Captain America.
Spiderman - yeah he is super strong and swings around but he aint on superman power level
Wolverine - impossible to kill pretty much but can be knocked out an dbeaten and doesnt have firing powers or really super strength.
Captain America - a super solider but only i sthe peak of human physcial limit and an unbreakable sheild.
Superman is eaily more powerful then the 3 of them but they are the top guys of marvel.
Let's face it Superman is an Icon. It doesn't matter if you prefer Marvel to DC.
Very nice return for Superman, lets hope if they to continue it, they don't eff it up. {i.e 'Superman 3' and 'Superman 4', i didn't even know a 4th existed until my brother told me, apparently best left forgotten}
Oh man! 4 was fantastic, and when i say fantastic I really mean shit.
Nuclear man? They should've named him Bad Hair Day Man or Long Fingernails Man. Oh, and his weakness was erm, he lost his powers when the sun disappeared? That's the worst weakness ever. Its like having a weakness to vegetables.
They showed a "fight scene in space" clip in that Curse documentary - wow, you could actually see them standing on a floor ... so bad so bad. Things I would like to have removed from my brain: No.1 Superman 4
I saw it as a kid when it came out ... i still remember the excitement queuing. But the worst superhero film of all time? I think maybe not. At least it was entertainingly bad. Xmen 3 was a horrible horrible film. Who made Wolverine boring/camp? How disappointed was I? And then it was all a dream ...
X-Men 3 was alright as a film and had great effects.
it was just that a fiar bit in it sucked balls, like killing Xavier and Ccyclops, Rogue hardly being in it then being cured at the end, Having new characters but them not doing or saying much, cutting out the bobby was a cheating dickwad.
Hah, ok you're right, X-men 3 was ok. I just wanted to see more of Iceman kicking butt. And i've never gotten over Mckellen as Magneto. Too frail looking. And, yeah, what was the deal with Rogue?
So then, is Superman 4 the worst superhero film ever?
Xmen 3was alright, in respect to action and having Kitty, Beast, Moira and Maddox, but the plot seemed rushed all the way through and the killing off of Cyclops and Xavier was shite, it didn't have Nightcrawler in it, the teaser after the credits was tacky, the Rogue, Bobby, Kitty subplot seemed virtually unneccessary and now you mention it digbyswift, Wolverine was overlyemotional on the level of emoVader, from Star Wars episode 3, not a good look for the bad boy Wolverine.
Also I wonder how many references/parallels there are in Superman Returns of the 1st Superman film. like Luthors land grab scheme
McKellen ruled as Magneto!!!!! He should get an oscar for it no lie!
He totall captured the essence of Magneot and made the charcter come to life. Yes he doesn't have bulging musciles like in the comics but to be fair, comics are a bit of fantasy on the physical side. Do you know many 70 year old men with the body of the comic Magneto? And how many owmen have the exaxt body of the countless number of super heroines? Not many.
So you can't diss it for that.
Yes X-Men 3 could have been better, but it was ok. I was still buy it on dvd when it comes out.
Superman returns does indeed take place after Superman 2 and I did notice the reference to superman 2 with the property and such.
Also, the reference Gotham!!!! I so hat eit when DC tries to be real and only does the cities that exist in real life. Its Gotham man, thats how it should be.
*Okay, i havent been on here for a couple of months so I am a bit rusty* I havent seen Superman yet and being the Marvelite that I am, it kind goes against what I believe in. However I think I will (IF I) only got to see Kevin Spacey as an unhinged Lex Luthor.
As for how many women have bodies like Superheroines...maybe we dont because we are fed up of being EXPECTED to have figures like that!!
X-men 3 i enjoyed more than the other 2. I wasnt sad for Jean though, I think i expected it. The same thing happened with Wolverine`s ex-love Mariko and i hadve no sympathy for her untimely death either. My heroine was responsible *huge smile* I know WAY too much.
Hmm, wanting to make a woman happy - perfectly normal. Wanting to make a imaginary woman in a comic happy - cuckoo!! Actually, I've had a thing for scarlet johansen ever since I saw Ghost world, and erm Belle from beauty and the beast, so i can't exactly preach can i?! Doh!
Oh, Belle. What can I say? It's those big doe-like eyes!
Yeah, Dude. Belle's a cartoon. That's weirder than X. At least Scarlet Johansens a real person who you can go to Hollywood and stalk. Walking X, you need to find a local girl who you can make happy. Maybe a girl called Marie, so you can call out her name at bedtime and imagine it's Rogue.
The last time I tried to make love to fictional comic book character I went from NearMint to Poor in 60 seconds.
(I've got a bit of a thing for Agent Hill from SHIELD, Shhh, it's a secret)
I know its weird, btu hey we are all comic fans here so I am embracing the whole geek side of it, and part of that is fancying fictional women. Why do you think comic women are all gorgous, big boobed beauties? Fantasy.
I do indeed need a local girl. Hey I actually found a girl who is into rogue and will be in leeds, but she has a bf :-(
i know some geeky people but i don't think they fancy fictional women(i don't think so anyway), and i'm a fan of comics but why does that mean i have to fancy the female characters in them?
i don't tend to go for the fictional characters, never really understood it. that said, the, ahem, 'action' scene in the 6th Y: The Last Man trade was pretty saucy. I've read that more than once.
I'm pretty sure Walkin X is the only person who actually thinks about getting into a relationship with a 2 dimentional character and making her 'happy'. We're not all that bad.
3-D Guy for the 2-D Girl. Ends messy and crumpled.
I can now imagine ads in the papers, 'Comics obessed man, in mid-20's looking for Rogue like woman, must be strong with South American/Missouri accent, brunette with white strip at front. Going by Anne-Marie or Rogue prefered.' Any takers?
and I aint that obessed with comics. Not like some here.
what can I say? she is hot and a great character. I do love the accent and the look. If I found a girl with the white strip that would intrgiue me, if a girl has that southern american accent, that would be a turn on, doesnt have to be called annie marie or rogue tho lol.
come on, the poor girl couldnt touch anyone for years. Guilt ridden, raised by a terrorist and then the only guy she loved is a cheating rat that joined apocalypse? gotta feel bad for her.
I was only joking baout the embracing geek thing.
like any of u never watched a film or tv show and wanted to be in it, or have powers or get it on with some1 u could never have.
But the Rogue in the movie is so different to the Rogue in the comics. You can't date them both. That'd make you worse than Gambit, except less french.
aye yes, the Rogue film verison is way different to comic version. tho thats coz of studio execs and the general public, try throwing in a non mutant superhero ms marvel, and rogue absorbing her powers and shiar and all that jazz that was in the comics and you'd never get a film.
Actually film rogue is quite similar to Ultimate Rogue. Same age, same relations with bobby, look and such.
I do greatly appreciate the makers of the film for bring flesh to the rogue character and I do think Anna Paquin is well hot, especially with the white stripe ;-)
but in their world now she is cured so she can have any man, I'd be less special :-(
but they are both still Rogue and I'd go with either of them lol.
Least I never teamed up with Sinister or Apocalypse unlike Gambit.
Anna Paquin is quite fit in the X-Men movies, but really don't think you see her enough in the 3rd. And Rogue is cool [X-Men 188] If you didn't like Rogue as much now, you will do in the current story.
I sooo wanna knwo whats going on with her right now but I aint getting single issue snow except for civil war and classic rogue.
there is gonna be a new X title with Rogue central as well in a team consisting off her, mystique, nightcrawler, sabretooth and I think iceman and that pulse guy.
Collector - you post made no sense whatsoever I mean reading the sentance, it made no sense.
Arseface - I have never heard a name mor aptly applied to the bearer :-)
I agree you do not see enough of her in the film DevilShadow.
Rogue is the team leader of the X-Men in X-Men. It's a few issues in already, Mike Carey is a pretty good writer, he's already shown Rogue using her powers in new and interesting ways. And I've met Arseface in the flesh. He's a beautiful young man.
what i was trying to implicate was that you had homosexual tendencies towards sinister and apocolypse and would like to get buzy with one of them, rouge and yourself
well you grammer could make a 3rd grader blush! (no, not a real intended insult but a quote from a comic aptly applied to the collector friend, can you spot it? its pretty easy)
Hey if you can't take it, don't dish it out.
Really? Rogue as leader again. Nice! Is that the team I mentioned? with sabretooth and mystique etc? I read about it on marvel.com but they implied it wasn't out yet. Any chance of these new X-Titles and the whole new battle with Apocolypse and his new horsemen, being made into graphic novels?
I have no homosexual intentions to Apocalypse and Sinister. My only love for a fictional character is my love of Rogue in all her incarnations.
Walking X, Dude, if you're gonna rag on other peoples grammer it's probably a good idea to check "you" own. The Blood of Apocalypse storyline is already out as a graphic novel. I'm sure the others will follow shortly, I'd bet my pretty face on it.
Dude, at least my sentance made sense and if you actually read what I said, I wasn't ragging, it was quote that applies well to our Collector conisdering his avatar and where I got the quote from. And "you" wasn't a grammer mistake, it was a typo :-)
Gambit going evil was a bit lame actually. He went "Make me evil." and then "I don't like being evil, my hair sucks" and then "i'm bored, I'm off". And Apocalypse was a bit lame too. I thought he was meant to be a badass mofo evil dude and his attempt at Pestilence was a little half hearted since everyone who came into contact with him/her caught a mild cold and recovered after a hot drink, a hug and a decent nights sleep.
Spike was evil? I thought he was camp. And i'm not sure Darth's heavy breathing counts as charisma but he was certainly evil. Now evil ... I think Kevin Spacey in Swimming With Sharks, but charisma? Hmm, Gene Hackman in Superman 1. Evil with charisma! ... you see what i did there? I brought it back to superman!
Gotta admit. I've never watched Angel or Buffy, except that one episode where everybody sings everything. Amber Benson (Tara) bought me lunch once. That was nice.
I've admittedly watched every episode of Buffy and Angel. Spike's just a little poncy/romantic. but he does have that bad attitude at times which makes him a likable character and some of his lines of comedy relief help as well.
Ha! Ok, comenting on a guy you never watched, shame on you. You should watch more tv! (please read the joke in this rather then having a go at me again)
I like that he is a romantic. He isn't pouncy. He was the bad man, the working class guy. Angel was the pounce tho he was cool. He had a bad atitude all the time and some the funniest charcter in that show.
He is a character that will be remembered in tv history.
Tara eh? nice, was that at your time at Forbidden Planet? Didn't they have James Marsters (Spike) there to once?
Marsters was there after I left. He was scheduled to appear while I was there but cancelled because of whatever. Which was a shame as we had him booked to do a live performance at Josephs Well, meet and greet the fans rather than just sitting at a table signing pictures. We were gonna sell badges that said "I've been Spiked" or "I got bit!" or something.
No, James Marsters is playing Milton Fine, really a Kryptonian construct that has aided in the release of General Zod from his prision. He is playing that relaitys version of Brainiac tho he hasn't been called as such.
