Our old chum Rob Liefeld is releasing a new harcover collection of his first Youngblood series. Yep, hardcover, so it can sit on your bookshelf with your other hardback/absolute editions of other masterpeices of the genre. But wait! It's no mere re-print. The artwork has been "re-mastered" and re-coloured, and, this is the best bit. The whole story and dialouge has been "rescripted" and "reimagined" by Joe Casey. That's right, they've kept the er, pretty pictures and told a whole new story over the top! Genius.
Rob's obviously excited about the whole thing: "The stuff is absolutely turbo-charged, it's wall-to-wall explosion of ideas and artwork", suggesting that he's drafted in another artist to "reimagine" the artwork as well.
"Those books connected with an audience and a generation of fans", he adds, although he fails to mention the 'collectors' who bought the variants in droves hoping to flog them on for a huge profit.
But maybe Rob's begining to realise the truth of his talent, "I was known as everything from a "young prodigy" to a "genius" with all the success I had carved out. Overnight I became an idiot in the eyes of many."
And just in case you'd forgotten, Youngblood is still going strong. Check out the upcoming story arc, titled, I kid you not, Armagaeddon Now: World War 3. I guess the post-90's world was just something that happened to other people for Rob.
Armageddon Now: World War 3 is nothing to do with Youngblood, it's for some Christian publisher and s base don the book of revelations. The art work in it isn't actually all that bad, but I put that down to the computer colouring which pretty much hides all of Rob's work on it haha
Wasn't Millar writing the actual current Youngblood series?
