I'm starting (again)to collect american marvel and dc and i'm trying to find out which is the best comic mart in the uk to go to for 25p issues.Nottingham has provided me with a good selection but feel the markets too small there. Also i was a bit dissapointed with MEMORABILIA at NEC last month as I used to get some bargains there too.Is there a comic mart at the NEC annually?
Yes. It is... BICS British International Comics Show. Also at the NEC, i think. There are also those ones that run up and down the country at smaller venues, but they don't seem to have many comics these days, catering for trading card and action figure fans instead. Leeds has thought bubble, which is great.
Best mart I've been to was in London at some hotel about 15 mins walk from Kings Cross, 3 massive rooms. In fact it was that big I left after the second room as I'd spent all my money and my back was breaking from all the comics I had to carry.
No idea to be honest, a friend of mine who lives in London took me and I just remember it being about 15 mins walk from Kings Cross, this was about 3 years ago.
theres a few round uk that golden orbit do but as i don't have my own transport i don't want to travel all the way to manchester or sheffield and find that its crap.i want somewhere thats going to have at least two rooms with comic stalls and 25p comics any advice?
Just to let you know i went to Nottingham's mart today and there was about ten dealers but just one dealer selling comics for 30p or 4 for a quid so got a good deal for about 50.Going to try Manchester in Jan anyone tell me how far the venue is from Piccadilly Station?
When I was a mart dealer I always found Manchester to be the best attended (customers and dealers), but it was a different world back then. In recent years a combination of people selling privately on ebay, and selling large collections cheap to dealers to sell on cheap has brought the value of comics right down... This sounds great for people looking to get loads of cheap comics, but If I were a mart dealer needing to take at least £150 in what is realistically a two hour trading period, I'd find it very tough making ends meet selling comics at 25 or 50p. So you may find that a lot of mart dealers now trade onine (ebay or their own sites) as there's less heavy lifting and no problems finding parking in busy city centres.
