just a question about nothing really.I'm collecting Avengers-The Crossing through individual issues. What do people out there prefer? To wait for the Graphic Novel to come out or as I am collect the individual issues, although I am surprised the crossing hasn't been done but i've been in touch with Forbidden Planet and they say there are no plans to bring it out in the near future.
Also someone on a different forum answered this question saying they collected the individual issues and then bought the trade when it came out so they "could store the issues for the future"...Now forgive me for thinking this but are 90's comics REALLY worth "saving for the future????"
I have picked up every issue I own from Comic Marts for no more than 30p,and someone's telling me that they want to store them for the future. No i don't see it...anyone disagree?I maybe wrong though is stuff like Todd MacFarlane's Hulk still going for silly money?
I guess with comics you just never can tell. Any potential future value is really just based on what someone is willing to pay, but scarcity does make a big difference and in the 90s there were a lot if comics being sold. I'd imagine current issues of Fantastic Four will appreciate, though, given that apparently almost nobody buys it.
As I bourght almost the entire civil war collection on ebay in individual issues, someone was selling them off in one large bulk, i've continued collection current marvel in indiviudal issues. I do have some trades though, but theres never much if I can buy all the issues cheaply on ebay but still in good condition thers not much point in getting the trade, especially when I think there putting less and less bonus material in them. Also OK sells complete collections of individual issues for good prices, stared me off with X. I was aguing over this once with myself over how to buy comics greatest world from Dark Horse, but as they didn't have colletions of all of them in Omnibuses, so I hit ebay again.
i don't think any '90s comcis will be worth anything in the future. even the holo foil glow in the dark ltd edition #1s had massive print runs. I saw Spawn #1 at Thought Bubble for 75p last year. That used to sell for silly money. Likewise, Wolverine #75 (where he looses his adamantium skeleton at the hands of magneto) is no longer a valuable commodity.
Appreciate you have a ridiculous collection Lee, but don't you ever go back in and re-read stuff? I do. I don't do it as much as when I was younger, and would happily sit with a tea and a bit of toast and while away an afternoon reading a run of stuff (i get told off for that these days, apparently its anti social).
I would theoretically go back and read old stuff, but I barely have time to stay on top of new stuff and my longboxes are really badly organised so I've no idea where to find things. If I ever have weeks at home (I'm trying to will myself into developing clinical agoraphobia) then I plan to get all the contents of the boxes out and organise them, but it is rare that I have 30 or so hours to spare...
I re-read a lot of stuff, which is a good and bad idea. Good because you re-discover classic stuff and bad because you realise that something you read and loved years ago was in fact utter garbage. I'm thinking mainly 90's Image stuff here.
I also have loads of stuff un-read. This is mainly stuff where I've bought a sereies, or a run on a book, but there is an issue or two missing, so the whole load is on hold until I track down the missing ones!
I like the graphic novels, especially the long ones. I pick up comics when i see them cheap at boot sales and stuff but normally sell them on to buy more graphic novels. They seem to hold their value better than comics aswell. Although i'm trying to complete my hellblazer collection with individual issues as i've already got a few and the the graphic novels don`t come up that often.
Federal Comics..don't know where I got the name Planet from?Apparently they are the Australian version of DC and I think owned by them.Which begs the question why do/did they change their name to Federal in Australia?Maybe DC stood for Dunny Closed over there?Anyone got any info on Federal?
