Has anyone read this, started of ok then seemed a little confusing. How did knight wing become supermans grandson? am i missing something obvious here.
Isn't that the series that's set in 'real' time. So Batman and Superman first fought crime in the 1930's and then got married, had kids, retired, died, their kids took over, got old, died etc, etc, etc? Is that the one? Written by John Byrne? Not an imaginary story?
yeah thats it they have kids, grandkids etc, joker dies of old age, but it is sort of imaginary, but bj the new batman meets a vietnamese woman, their kid becomes knight wing, then all of a sudden superman is in the phantom zone, saying thats my grandson, and hes affected by kryptonite, i re-read it incase i missed some pages, my concentration ain`t what it used to be, but i can`t figure it out. Maybe if i get hold of generations one.......
If you haven't read Generations then, yes, Generations 2 is a bit confusing. You should get the first one simply because Superman/Batman: Generations is Awesome! It is by John Byrne which is halfway to Awesome in itself. What takes it all the way up to Full Awesome is the fact that it is basically - John Byrne Saying If I Controlled The DCU This Is What It Would Be Like Mwha Ha Ha Ha! The sheer scope of his haughty retconning is truly humbling. It makes Rascally Roy Thomas appear as a tremulous child. It is DCU - Back To Basics by John Byrne. It is a magnificent thing. Possibly the best thing is when he explains in the introduction that his concept is grounded in having the heroes appear in the DCU in their actual year of publication. He is adamant about this. He has based it all on this one brilliant conceit. Except where it doesn't work (like Wonder Woman) so he just changes it. Yes, he actually changes everything, a whole Universe, to the way he wants it and then changes it again. A bit more. I love John Byrne comics they are bizarre. I'm not saying they are good but they are terribly fascinating to me.
I think it's time DC collected Generations 3 which I have never read. Do it for me, DC!
Yeah i`ll look for it, the trouble with the cheaper graphic novels is you pay nearly half as much again in postage unless they have a couple you want. So no enlightenment of the whole, knight wing being supermans grandson then Lamont?
Well, dear boy, when a man and a lady love each other very much the lady rubs the man's kneecaps while the man pats the lady's belly. They both say "Shazam!" and eighteen and a half minutes later a surly adolescent annexes one of their bedrooms and everybody turns to the camera and laughs like at the end of a 60's US Comedy show. 'S biology, innit.
Okay, I could explain the whole thing but a) it would spoil your enjoyment of Generations 1 and b) I'd have to go in the garage and read both of them again.
Sigh, you still want to know doncha, I can tell. Spoilers be danged! Okay, here's how I remember it - Knightwing is the identity adopted by Clark Wayne. Clark Wayne's dad is Joel Kent (whose father is Superman) but Bruce Wayne Jnr. adopted him (Clark Wayne that is, not Joel Kent or Superman although he probably considered it). Is that a bit clearer? Because I know I'm confused.
ok right erm....so joel kent and the vietnamese bird yeah? i figured he had just found her pregnant during a black ops sorta thing after the war, so he didn`t know he would have the kryptonite trouble then..... I really gotta get G1, thanks lamont.
I've got marvels ultimatum, and JLA Golden perfect out today so they should be less baffling.......i hope. I had a long break from comics, im sure they was never this complicated before, or maybe i was smarter.
